Bushfire Managment Overlay – BMO tanks – CFA tanks

The Bushfire Managment Overlay is land identified in Victoria that may be significantly affected by bushfires. The overlay tries to ensure that if a fire is present in these areas then there are adequate measures in place to reduce the risk.
Various levels are identified as Bushfire attack levels -BAL-. Depending on the BAL level your building requirements will be different.
One requirement when building in these zones is to create a bushfire management plan. This plan must provide information for on-site water supply. Bushfire tanks are required in these situations.
On-site water is required in an aboveground steel or concrete tank. The capacity is dictated by your Bushfire Managment Plan. Most commonly these are 5,000 litres or 10,000 litres. Outlets of the tank must be within 4 metres of the access way and unobstructed. The is a requirement for a CFA fire fitting which is a 3 thread 64 millimetre male fitting.

These tanks are designed for the CFA fire tank to have access to the 65mm CFA fire fitting. It is the responsibility of the installer and home-owner to select fitting locations.
How are BMO tanks Manufactured?
CFA fire tanks or BMO tanks are manufactured on customer order.
Customers will complete an order form specifying the fitting locations for the tank that a suitable for the property. Each tank comes standard with Inlet, 25mm outlet, Overflow and CFA fire Fitting.
Tanks come in slimline, Modline, Round and Square shapes.
