Underground Water Tanks – What’s the Fuss?

Townhouse projects, new builds and commercial environments are using Underground Water Tanks as a space saving measure.

During the build process, a pit is dug by the builder or installer to house the tank. Many builders are submerging tanks under the driveway, the carport and even the back yard.

Designed for Australia’s tough environment, beneath ground water tanks are a great solution. The side walls will withstand the inward pressure of the soil. The lid will withstand the downward pressure of concrete above.  The tanks can come with foot traffic lids or Road Traffic lids. Road Traffic lids are suitable to driveways and car ports.

Most often underground tanks are combined with a Submersible Pump.  Submersible pumps sit within the tank again for space saving purposes. The water will insulate the motor and reduce noise.  Submersible pumps will have sufficient pressure to pump water from a basement to a second floor toilet, laundry or even to top up a pool.  The combination of a beneath ground water tank with a submersible pump is a very environmentally responsible water storage solution.

Can we add Detentions?:

Detention fittings can be added to the tanks during manufacture. Ensure you check your plans for detention fittings. Plans will show the slow release water and the re-use water content.  The attached image shows the pipe set up that can sufficiently create slow-release water to satisfy council.

Can you join the tanks?

Water tanks designed for beneath ground can be interconnected or joined.  Manufacturing will poly weld additional fittings to allow interconnection.  Joined by 50mm pipe work or 100mm overflows there are solutions to suit your project.

They delivery process?

Truck and trailer is the preferred delivery utility. Delivered direct to site.  The delivery does not have lifting equipment available as this limits room on the truck.  It is the responsibility of the customer to have lifting equipment available on the day of delivery.  Customers are required to have strong adults to hand offload the tanks.  The tanks range from 130kg to 200kg we would recommend 4 to 6 strong adults would be required.
